A crowd of Vermonters traveled to Framingham, MA on November 4th and 5th to attend the 2022 USTA New England Tennis Weekend. SLC Chair Jerry Knickerbocker, LLC Beth Ellen Cook, TSR Karen Didricksen, 2022 New England Junior Provider of the Year and VT Junior Tennis Coordinator Tammy Azur, Bennington Aces NJTL Executive Director Sandy Foster, USTANE Member at Large Ed Powers, and USTA VT Board President Joanna Beall attended meetings, visited vendors and USTANE Committee representatives, cheered as Tammy and others received their awards, and participated in workshops around young athlete mental health, PTR, USPTA, and officials training, fostering inclusive tennis culture, and building strong tennis communities. The keynote speaker was former WTA champion and USTA National Board of Directors Elite Athlete representative Megan Moulton-Levy who shared her thoughts about inspired youth development mentoring and coaching; Frances Tiafoe, a former participant at the Junior Tennis Champion Center in College Park, MD where Megan is General Manager, is one example of her creative leadership. Each one of us was grateful for the conversations around growing all kinds of tennis in our region and hopes to bring new enthusiasm to our home state.
